Why Cape Town

Cape Town is where a safari itinerary breathes: Table Mountain rising directly from the Atlantic, penguins on Boulders Beach, world-class galleries and restaurants, and some of the most dramatic coastal driving anywhere on earth along Chapman's Peak and the Cape Peninsula.

Most of our travellers use two to four nights here to close out a Botswana or Kruger safari — a deliberate change of pace and scenery before flying home, or the elegant opening chapter to a longer Southern African journey.

Landscape & character

African penguins at Boulders Beach, southern right whales (in season) off the Peninsula, and prolific birdlife on Table Mountain's slopes.

Signature experiences

Table Mountain (cableway or hike), the Cape Peninsula and Cape Point, V&A Waterfront, world-class dining, and gallery and design district visits.

  • A natural, easy final chapter — private transfers make it a seamless add-on to any safari.
  • Whale watching along the Peninsula is excellent June–November.
  • Who it suits: everyone — the ideal counterpoint to days spent in the bush.

Best time to visit Cape Town

November–March for warm, dry summer days; June–November for whale watching. Shoulder months are quieter and excellent value.
